Matt Mullins appeared as one of the finalists on America's got talent in 2007, it recently aired on SABC. I first saw him starring alongside Michael Jai White in Blood and Bone as Whites finally opponent, Mullins holds a fourth degree in the style Shōrei-ryū . He is the leader of Sideswipe, a martial arts based performance team  performing with their combination of martial arts moves, aerodynamics, and gymnastics.I think that his casting was well done.

He originally featured in the Rebirth trailer fighting Baraka played by capoerian fighter Lateef Crowder. In the series he acts as Johnny cage, the washed out martial artist superstar who is offered a once in a life time opportunity to prove his worth as a fighter in a tournament that will attract the attention of earths greatest warrior.

I'm still not happy at the length of these webisodes but they are very creatively directed leaving you after every episode wanting more. Mullins home videos were used for a fictional documentary of Johnny Cage, very well done

The Ipad 2 released today internationally as well as here in South Africa. There was not very much Hype in South Africa, pre-release, as no announcement was made from any quarter about the official release date. So it did come as somewhat of a surprise to many. Dion Wired released a tweet early this morning of the New IPad 1 Pricing,

" iPad1's priced from R1,999 to R3,999 but alas very little left, pls phone stores first to check"

So I hurried along to my nearest Dion Wired only to find out that I was 25 minutes too late, all the Dion Wired stores were sold out by 9:15am this morning as I confirmed by calling, Fourways, Hyde Park and Woodmead. The 16gb Ipad 1 with 3g and wifi sold for R2400-00, that is half the price of what it was originally released for a couple months ago when it first came out. The salesman at Dion Wired a repugnant looking Indian man arrogantly told me that The Ipad 1 is obsolete and that I should purchase the Ipad 2.

I quietly walked out the store with no reply to his troll comment, but if I did engage him in conversation it probably would have went something like this.

Me            : Hello, Mr. Salesman, I would like to buy an Ipad 1.
Salesman  : The Ipad 1 is obsolete, we no longer sell it because we do not deal
                    in obsolete junk
Me           :  Were you born on the highway? Cause that's where most accidents
                    happen

Salesman : Why don't you get an Ipad 2?

Me           : You cannot estimate the immensity of the fuck in which I do not give.
                   I just want  the IPAD 1. The last thing I want to do is hurt you....
                   but it's still on the list.

 So, lets see what happens in the coming months. I don't think that its fair that consumers are forced to buy these upgraded devices when older models will still suffice to a market that are stilling willing to pay good money. 

It was with great sadness and much regret that I received the news of Sathya Sai Babas death early on Sunday morning, the news of this great Holy Mans passing on sent shock waves throughout the entire global hindu community. He has spent much of the last month in intensive care before passing away from cardio-respiratory failure. He was 86 years old and leaves behind millions of followers and no heir. I have grown up practicing the ideologies and principles of Sri Sathia Sai and although his loss opens a big void, the lessons that he has taught us will forever remain to fill that void.

He will be buried in Puttaparthi - the town that he transformed along with his devotees, adding to its landscape world-class hospitals, schools and drinking water.

The funeral will begin at 9 am tomorrow. Baba will be buried in Prashanti Nilayam Ashram - where he lived - in Kulwant Hall, where his casket has been on display for darshan.Ten priests will conduct the ceremonies.

From tomorrow afternoon onwards, once the burial is over, the public will be allowed to visit Kulwant Hall again.

The sci fi fantasy film Tron was released on dvd and bluray countrywide on Thursday 21 April. This is my favourite Sci Fi movie of the year so far.
The first movie originally released in 1982 did not receive favourable reviews but was lauded for its stunning special effects that heralded a new age in modern cinema. Although sci fi movies had already been featuring special effects long before Tron, Tron was the first to use computerised visuals on such a grand scale.

Now almost 30 years later. Jeff Bridges Reprises his Roles as Kevin Flynn, CEO of Encom and the Evil Clu (Codified Likeness Utility) likened in the image of his creator Kevin Flynn. The Special effects used to create CLU is nothing short of amazing  and definately sets a new benchmark in visual effects. 

The Recommended retail price for the DVD is R159-95, as it is the price being sold at CNA, Musica and High Fidelty. Pick N Pay are R20-00 below the recommended retail price, selling it for R139-95,  making them the winner once again in my price check.

The DVD bargain bins in Pick N Pay generally have a really good selection of movies at very decent prices, I picked up the Original Batman with Adam West, Burgess Meredith, Cesar Romero and Julie Newmar in a bargain Bin at Rondebosch Pick N Pay during the December holidays for just R40-00.

The second episode of mortal, kombat released on wednesday continuing from where it left of from the first episode, these webisodes are short but the story is moving at good pace so far. Its great to see Michael Jai White acting as a Jax, a role that he was unable to play when approached by producers initially to do it in Mk Annihilation, because of other commitments, Im glad that it never happened, it would have destroyed his career.

The story is still focusing on the origins of Jax, Sonya and Kano, the producers have only committed to 10 webisodes so far, I am not sure how they will fit in the entire mk origin story in this limited space, it will be interesting to see.

The much anticipated Mortal Kombat series based on the short Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer was released yesterday 12th April 2011, this new rendition of Mortal Kombat has been given an overhaul and is a lot more darker and gritier in style than any of the series or movies previously released by New Line Cinemas. The project is an undertaking by Warner brothers in Collaboration with Ed Boons newly founded Nether Realm studios based on the popular rebirth trailer that was a pitch used by producer Kevin Tancharoen.

The film boasts an awesome cast of martial arts talent, Michael Jai White as Jax Briggs, Lateef Crowder as Baraka and Matt Mullins as Johnny cage. Ian Anthony Dale (Agent Simon Lee) from the series "The Event" stars as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion, the top assassin of the Shirai Ryu. The Mortal Kombat rebirth trailer wasn't a product of Ed Boon or John Tobias but it has been well recieved by the creators who hope to develop it into a movie.

After the Disasterous Mortal Kombat Annihilation that was poorly received by both fans an ordinary movie goers in 1997, any plans for a sequel where shelved with several story lines that have been scripted and re-scripted locked away in the darkest vaults of hollywood production studios. The Pilot webisode of Mortal Kombat Legacy is refreshing with an intricate storyline exploring and developing characters in a way we haven't seen before and Im sure this will breath new life into the franchise and somewhat influence the direction of the game as well. Although 1 week apart and not intended by the director, the release of the webisode coincides with the release of New Mortal kombat game from the newly founded NetherRealm Studio.

MK stands out as the the top Martials arts Kombat gaming franchise persevering for more than 20 years because they spectacularly deliver what the fans want. I have been a Mortal Kombat fan from the very first series and from the very first Mortal Kombat arcade game, I am as excited as I was growing up waiting for the new MK games to be released.
